David Q. Wright

David is a professional horseman based at Hunters Court Stable on Franklin Road in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A United States Equestrian Federation Recorded "R" Judge in Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation divisions, and a USEF licensed Jumper judge, David has produced, trained, and shown hunters and hunter ponies through the top "A" level, including awards at the USEF Pony Finals and the major Indoor Shows. Notables are Golden Girl, who won the 2001 Regionals and a Finals Class of the International Hunter Futurity; Pappy Clifford, Champion in the Regular Working Hunter Division at all 3 major Indoors horseshows at Harrisburg, Washington, and New York, who was retired from competition in 1998 after being champion once again at the National Horse Show.

Most recently, David and South Point Farm's Renaissance were awarded 2008 USEF Horse of the Year Regular Working Hunter Champion. David and Renaissance were also Regular Working Hunter Champion at the 2008 Washington International Horse Show, and won the $10,000 International Hunter Derby at the 2008 Gulf Coast Winter Classic.

Cecilia Halsey won the Washington International Adult Hunter Finals Classic in October of 2005 at the Washington International Horse Show. Student Julia Sisler of Asheville, NC was honored as Best Child Rider on a Pony in 1994 also at the prestigious Washington International Horse Show. Protégé’ Callie Schott won the 2002 NAL Children’s Hunter Finals at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on her pre-green horse, Miscongeniality, and Schott, aboard Almost Famous, also won the overall Large Junior Hunter Championship at the 2001 AHSA/USEF National Junior Hunter Championships, where she also received the Sportsmanship Award. Riding in her first Grand Prix ever, Schott managed to best her trainer by riding to 4th place in the $25,000 Nutrena Grand Prix aboard Coco Chanel! Elaina Plott and Orlando finished 10th overall in the Large Pony Hunters at the 2006 USEF Pony Finals, and Elaina Plott and Key Largo finished 6th in the 2006 Washington International Horse Show Pony Equitation Finals. Cara Dodson and The Waterboy received Reserve Champion honors in the Pony Jumper Division at the 2008 Devon Horse Show and were awarded the Silver Medal in Individual Pony Jumper competition at the 2008 USEF Pony Finals and finished the year as 2008 USEF Horse of the Year Reserve Champion Pony Jumper. In addition, Cara Dodson and Boomerang Love finished 2nd Over Fences and 6th overall in the Medium Green Pony Hunter Division at the 2008 USEF Pony Finals. Zoe Glassman and Nobilis were awarded Reserve Champion Childrens Jumper at the 2008 Washington International Horse Show. Katie Ramsey and Champlain Charade received the honor of 2008 USEF Horse of the Year Champion in Medium Green Pony Hunter and 2009 USEF Horse of the Year Reserve Champion in Medium Pony Hunters. Elite Movida, owned by Kaitlyn Alsup and ridden by Morgane Qualls, finished 6th over in the Medium Pony Division at the 2009 USEF Pony Finals and 8th in the 2009 USEF Pony Medal. Fancy Feet, owned by David Wright and ridden by Morgane Qualls, was 2008 USEF Horse of the Year Grand National Pony Hunter Champion and Small Pony Hunter Champion.

David has started and shown jumpers through International Grand Prix level, with over 46 career Grand Prix wins, and total winnings in the jumper ring of over $1,000,000 riding Charter Flight, Seize The Crown, Tennessean, Roll The Dice, The Max, Cloud Patrol, See No Evil, Say No More, Nobody's Fool, The Gambler, Cassius, Campari and Step Right Up. Step Right Up and David won more money than any other Grand Prix horse in the United States that did not compete outside the country in 2003, with total winnings that year of over $118,000. Beginning December 1, 2005, USHJA began the Rider Recognition Program which tracks overall lifetime earnings of professional riders. At the 2006 Annual USHJA Meeting, David was awarded 1st in the $75,000 to $100,000 Tier of Recognition in the Jumper Standings. With the completion of the 2008 competition year, David was ranked in the $250,000 Jumper Level and the $50,000 Hunter Level.

   A trainer of Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State Champions in Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation divisions every year since 1981, he is currently ranked on the computer list by the United States Equestrian Team which represents the United States in the Olympics and International competition.

   David’s hobbies are snow skiing, tennis every once in a while, and starting young horses, which he says are all fun and relaxing!!! David, along with Assistant Trainers Abbie Clark and Raffi Kechejian, manage and operate Hunters Court Stable on Franklin Road in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They encourage everyone from those of you who have never ridden before to the most advanced professionals to visit with them. Hunters Court also offers indoor and outdoor riding lessons for ALL ages and levels….from those who have never ridden a horse on up!

Abbie Clark

Abbie Clark has been riding hunters, jumpers and fox hunters for over 25 years. She She grew up  riding with Sally and David Lamb of Oakland Heights Farm, in Gordonsville, Virginia.

After high school, Abbie chose to delay college, and went to work with many of the local professionals and farms in the area, riding and exercising many horses and gaining experience in the show ring, as well as hunting many green horses for local owners. She then attended Virginia Intermont College and was a member of the Intercollegiate Riding Team. 

In 1997, her horse career took an abrupt detour when she decided to enter the United States Marine Corps. She served for 8 years as an Aviation Ordnance Technician. After leaving the military, she promptly got back into the horse business.
 
Abbie has been teaching at Hunters Court for 3 years.  She is a great instructor and specializes in starting beginner riders.

 

 


Matt Piccolo

We are delighted to welcome Matt Piccolo to the Hunters Court Stable team of professionals. Matt hails from outside of Boston Massachusetts, where he grew up riding horses and showing all over New England and the East Coast with Deborah Hoyt-Banfield.

He graduated from the University of Findlay in 2008 where he was an active competitor on the school’s IHSA varsity team in the Open Division.  Matt worked training many horses and coaching locally while in school in both Toledo and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Since graduating Findlay, Matt spent two years working in Memphis, TN at David Pellegrini’s Spring Mill Farm. He trained children and adults alike to many competitive wins both locally and nationally including ribbons at Pony Finals and Indoors. During his time in Memphis, Matt was a member of the Board for the WTHJA and was an active member and competitor in the local horse show scene.

While predominately focused on developing good young show hunters, Matt has also ridden jumpers, eventers, and even some lower level dressage horses. Matt is very excited to be a new addition to Hunters Court Stable.
